Unit Staking Calculator
Unit Staking Calculator Info
In sports betting, a “unit” is a standard measure of bet size, typically representing a fixed amount or fraction (such as 1%) of a bankroll. This calculator compares three popular unit-staking philosophies side by side:
- Flat Staking: Wagers a fixed 1 unit on every bet regardless of odds. It is simple to execute, but subjects the bankroll to greater variance on longshots and under-allocates on short favorites.
- Unit Win Staking: Sizes the wager so that a win returns exactly 1 unit of profit. On heavy favorites this requires staking multiple units, while on longshots the stake is scaled down to a fraction of a unit.
- Root Unit Staking: Balances flat staking and unit win staking by varying the stake inversely with the square root of the net odds. This curtails excessive stakes on heavy favorites while preserving meaningful exposure on underdogs.
For each method, the table displays the recommended wager in units and dollar stake, alongside the resulting profit and total payout if the bet wins.
